Today, we showcase a new generation of a WPSD Alumnus. A proud graduate of the Class of 2007, Zane Noschese comes to us from a large Deaf family and is the third generation to graduate from WPSD. Currently, he is following is older siblings to Gallaudet University, entering in his fifth year majoring in Mathematics with a minor in Business Administration.

At Gallaudet, Zane has played forward on the Bison’s soccer team and has been a member of the Gallaudet baseball team for four years as a utility player. Zane was nominated to the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Second Team All-Conference, and was named as a Student-Athlete of the Week by NEAC during the week of April 11, 2011. He was Gallaudet’s top pitcher after posting a 6-1 record, and team best 3.31 ERA. His six wins bought him the ranking of 42nd overall in Division III. Zane was second in the team batting average of .350.

“I was very fortunate to have played under Curtis Pride,” said Zane. Pride is the Deaf coach of the Gallaudet baseball team and a former player for several Major League Baseball teams in the mid 1990s and early 2000s.

Zane is an avid world traveler having visited over 30 countries…and counting! He says the most important thing about visiting a foreign country is to respect the people, their culture and their language.

His advice to the future graduates of WPSD… work hard, be yourself, and be friendly! When you have a chance to go somewhere, go!! Don’t be afraid to discover new things and learn from them.

Upon graduation from Gallaudet, Zane hopes to land a job in the Federal Government. If it does not pan out the way he hopes, he will continue his adventures in globetrotting!!
