David Hoffman (1966 – 2012)

We want to thank our Lord for blessing us by sending David Allen Hoffman to the Fox Valley. Although taken from us unexpectedly in an automobile accident, his passion and love for the Deaf community surely remain. He became an inspiration to so many in the short time he was with us. The passion and concern he displayed for the Deaf was only matched by the warmth and tenderness of friendship he showed to everyone with whom he came in contact. Everyone came to instantly love David; we just couldn’t help it.

His heart’s desire was to establish a church for the Deaf community where they could worship in their heart language. His devotion to this, God’s plan to reach the Deaf for Christ, was clearly evidenced by the gleam in his eye and the excitement in his hands as he shared the vision God had shared with him. It was clearly evident to all, that David was called for such a ministry, for such a time as this in the Fox Valley.

David’s impact on us all will not be diminished by his Home going. It is certain that what God has started through His servant David will never be forgotten nor will it go for naught. The passion and fire for the Deaf community remains aglow in all those who came to know and love him as a brother in Christ. We can be assured that the work that God began will only continue. We may not realize how, we may not know when or through whom; but we know for certain that it will.

God has called each of us to His service. David eagerly and enthusiastically answered the call of his Lord. And now it is up to us, his friends, to join our Lord in the work that He so graciously started. Always remembering as we work together, David’s love of God, his passion for his ministry and the joy with which he served.

A memorial service for David will be held at 5:00 pm on Sunday August 19, 2012 at Valley Baptist Church, 3600 N Chippewa Street Appleton, Wisconsin, with Rev. Larry Creamer and Rev. Donald Ketter co-officiating.
