When Jesse was a senior at WPSD, the yearbook staff asked what his goals were for the future. He said, “Go to NTID to study film/video production, … receive my master’s degree.. be employed at WPSD to work in the media department and teach television broadcasting classes.” In 2016, he is on his way to achieving those goals.

Jesse Barkey was born in Monongahela, PA, and began attending WPSD when he was three years old. (You might say that WPSD is a family tradition since his older brother, David, attended the school in the early 1980’s and his nephew, Camden, is presently in the first grade at WPSD.) After graduation, Jesse attended NTID/RIT, majored in Applied Computer Technology and received his Associate’s degree in Applied Science. He was employed with Sorenson for four years, and was recently hired by The Scranton School as the Technology and Media Specialist.

Jesse credits the WPSD staff and the enriching environment for making him into the excellent person he is today. He says that there were so many good memories from his years at WPSD that he can not name just one. He continues to create new memories with his friends from the Class of 2007.

When asked what advice he would give to current students he says, “Take advantage of everything the school has to offer. Set goals, and have dreams and work to achieve them.”

As for his future goals, he intends to continue to take college classes to earn his bachelor’s and ultimately his master’s degrees. We’re sure he will succeed!
