Obituary: Joe Jezerski, Class of 1955

Joseph Avery Jezerski, 82, of Boynton Beach, Florida, passed away February 9, 2018. Joseph was born on August 22, 1935 to parents John and Josephine Jezerski in Weirton, West Virginia.

Joseph was preceded in death by his sister Martha (husband Lynn) Frye of Noblesville, Indiana, who passed away July 8, 2017. He is survived by his brother John Jezerski, Jr. (wife Esten) of Weirton, West Virginia; her sister, Marilyn Knetzer (husband Paul) of Safety Harbor, Florida.

Joseph will be lovingly remembered by his family, beloved wife of 59 years Noreen Jezerski; children, Lawrence Jezerski, Jeffrey (wife Barbie – Daniel, Nicole), Jay (wife Kelly – Jake, Hannah, Ethan), Timothy (wife Rina – John, Anna, Jacob).

Joseph attended the West Virginia School for the Deaf in Romney, West Virginia and Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, the Class 1955, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He retired from The Pittsburgh Press/Post-Gazette after 35 years

Joseph was dedicated to many deaf organizations. He was a previous president of Pennsylvania Society for the Advancement of the Deaf. He was also one of the founders of PSADLand Camp in Clearfield County.

A Funeral Mass will be at Saint Matthew Catholic Church, 6090 Hypoluxo Road, Lake Worth, Florida on Friday, February 16, 2018, 10:00 AM. Memorial service of Joseph A Jezerski will held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the summer.

Arrangements are under the care of Tillman Funeral Home & Crematory.
