Obituary: George Klassen, Class of 1966

George Harry Klassen, 74, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 in Select Specialty Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp.

He was a dental technician with Muth & Mumma Dental Lab, Harrisburg for many years. He then worked with computer claims at Highmark, Camp Hill. Upon retirement, he worked for GIANT Foods, Enola. George was very strong in his faith and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mechanicsburg where he was active with his Bible Study group. Additionally, George was a 1966 graduate of Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, Pittsburgh.

George was born in Greensburg, PA, son of the late John and Lavonne (Rose) Klassen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon (Luckenbaugh) Klassen.

He is survived by his daughter, Cathy R. Negley and husband Donald of New Cumberland; his sister, Karen Taylor of Irwin, PA; and three grandchildren, Tyler, Nathan, and Jordan.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Monday, September 16, 2019 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 410 East Simpson St., Mechanicsburg, PA with the Rev. Thomas J. Rozman as Celebrant. Visitation with the family will be from 9:15 – 10:15 am Monday in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made in George’s memory to the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf http://www.wpsd.org/support-us/ways-to-give/
