McConnellsburg woman dies after being hit by a car

A McConnellsburg woman is dead after being hit by a car while walking in a cemetery late Tuesday afternoon, according to Pennsylvania State Police, McConnellsburg.

According to the report, an unknown vehicle was driving north down SR522 as Autumn Deshong, 25, was driving her 2010 Mazada in the opposite direction Tuesday at approximately 2:55 p.m. The unknown vehicle attempted to turn left into Union Church Cemetery as Deshong approached. Deshong swerved to avoid hitting the car and traveled into the cemetery, striking a tombstone with the front of her vehicle and then hitting Sheila Glenn, 69, who was walking in the cemetery.

Glenn was transported to Fulton County Medical Center by McConnellsburg Ambulance and then flown to War Memorial Hospital in Johnstown where she was pronounced dead.

The unknown vehicle fled the scene heading south on SR522 before police could arrive. The vehicle is described as being gray in color, possibly with New York license plates. The driver is described as being a woman in her late 40s. Anyone with information regarding this vehicle or driver is asked to contact Pennsylvania State Police, McConnellsburg.
