George D’Amore Sr. in middle-aged man

On the morning on June 14, 2021, George D’Amore, Sr of Erie, PA died at the age of 82. He was in peace and comfort when he passed. He is survived by his four children, Rina and husband Tim, Gina and wife Nancy, George, Jr. and wife Jill, and Julia and husband Rob, and their families, including his grandchildren Jacob, Allyson, Brett, Chance, Kyle, Chad, and Jenna, his beloved siblings, Bob and wife Mary Ann, Dick and wife Sharon and Amy and husband Scott, and their families, including his many nieces and nephews Robby, Pat, Beth, Nick, Michael, Carly, Shawn, and Maddox and their families.

He leaves behind a large group of loving and lifelong friends across the country and his beloved Erie Silent Club. He was a proud alumnus of Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf where he played basketball and soccer.

George was a passionate golfer and was incredibly proud of his hole in one that he shot in February 2011 while golfing with his brother, Dick. He was an avid boater, and business owner. He loved to travel, and was especially proud that his hometown, Erie, hosts one of the few remaining Deaf-owned Social Clubs in the country, no small part of which is due to his tireless advocacy and fundraising over the years.

A private memorial service will be held for family only.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in his honor be sent to

Erie County Community Center for the Deaf at: ECCCD/ESC P.O. Box 942 8 Erie, PA 16509
